How To Set The AltFire Bind

(almost) every weapon in AltFire has a second firing possibility. To be able to use this however, you need to alter some things in your User.ini file. I will now explain how to do this.

First look up your User.ini file, this is situated in the C:/DeusEx/System folder. Open it and look for the chapter [Engine.Input]. There you have to look for the line Aliases[18]=(Command="",Alias=None) and change it to: Aliases[18]=(Command="Button bAltFire|AltFire",Alias=AltFire). Then scroll down untill you find the key you want to bind it to. In my case that's the middlemousebutton. When you have found it, just type after the '=' AltFire (mind the capital letters).

Part one is completed now.

For the second part, you need to scroll down a bit more untill you find the chapter [Extension.InputExt], here you do the same. Mind, both chapters need to be changed, cause if not DeusEx could crash.

After you did this, you're all set to go and have fun.

Thank you for the detailed instructions this is the first dues ex advice where you've got to change something in the system folder that iv'e been able to understand but when i go into the folder were you have got to look for engine input it's not there n e were. Any advice ??

hmmm that's strange, then you could possibly just change the last section ([Extension.InputExt]), try it then.
Let me know if that doesn't work either.

btw, do you have the multiplayer only version, or the version with singleplayer as well?

thnx for the quick reply it's the dues ex.ini folder that i cnt find ive been on system folder and been in every folder and non have them have the engine input chapter you described and i have the full game from the c.d

it should be in you DeusEx/System folder (go to 'my computer', the double click on DeusEx (it could be located in 'program files'), and there is a folder named 'System' and there you should look for User)

Note: sorry ppl, i have missed in my original post, it's not DeusEx.ini, but User.ini, already corrected it, sorry.
